Karolina Grzywnowicz is a visual artist, using interdisciplinary approach. Her recent works deal with plants in social and political context, often of the violent nature. Her practice is research based, making use of archival materials, interviews, oral history and bibliographic records. She is looking for parallels between historical events and contemporary social and political discourses driven by urgent issues of violence, exile and migration. The methodology involves working with specialists across various disciplines and local people to allow for a space of interaction and exchange of knowledge. She works in various media: sculptures, site specific public installations, audio installations, art interventions and participatory projects. She graduated from Jagiellonian University, the Faculty of Comparative Literature. She lives and works in Berlin.
